The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has declared a national public holiday to celebrate qualifying for the World Cup finals for the first time in 52 years. This historic moment marks another milestone for African football.

The Congolese national team defeated Jamaica 1-0 in the World Cup qualifying play-off, with Axel Tuanzebe scoring the winning goal. This victory marks the country’s return to the World Cup stage for the first time since 1974.
The government announced a national day off to allow citizens to celebrate this historic victory together. Mass celebrations erupted on the streets of the capital Kinshasa, with fans waving flags and singing songs.
